The Aspire – Riverside
In partnership with the City of Riverside, County of Riverside, and Riverside Community College, IHO is helping fulfill the housing needs of unhoused community college students, including young adults aging out of the foster care system, with The Aspire. The site is in a stable residential community near historic homes and mountain views and within walking distance to a downtown area with access to employment, retail, and cultural landmarks. The design responds to the unique needs of these residents with 33 furnished 1-bedroom units that enable residents to live independently, with dignity and safety, for the first time. Apartments orient around an internal common courtyard and amenities include a communal living room, rooftop terrace, public art, resident services, and leasing offices. The three-story, Spanish-style design incorporates detailing reminiscent of the legendary Mission Inn. Once completed, IHO will work collaboratively with local partners to offer tailored social services at no cost to the students, including robust educational support, life skills and goal planning, case management, and financial resilience programming that will equip them to thrive long after their residency.
